It’s not how much it cost but how you use it.
LIKE MANY MAKEUP JUNKIES, I sometimes consider recommendations from beauty bloggers and vloggers. I always make sure that almost everyone is going gaga over certain products and have actually seen them use it before I make the go.
And recently, I watched a local beauty vlogger mention the brands City Color and Detail Makeover as two of her favourite drugstore makeup products and since I’ve been hearing good words about these two, I took it as a sign to try them myself and luckily, they are currently running a Buy 1 Take 1 promo.
These two contour products are the bestselling contour kits of both brands and I am lucky to have them both for a price of one. I have actually tried the Detail Contour kit and it’s really pigmented and it’s easy to blend on the face. I’ve noticed that it stays for a long time even for someone who has an oily skin like me. I haven’t tried the City Color Contour Kit except for the highlight but based on the swatch I did, I was amazed that it’s more pigmented than my Elf Bronzer Kit. I completely love the highlighter on it compared to Detail’s because it is more visible and it doesn’t look like a grease on the face.
I am most excited for these products. As much as I love contouring, you all know definitely love having eyebrows on fleek as seen in this guide and it is really hard to look for affordable eyebrow kits without compromising the quality. So, I am glad to finally be able to find a new drugstore eyebrow kit that fits my standards.
Since I have an oily skin, I always go for pomade or creams for my eyebrows but this time, I made a huge decision of trying a brow powder. What I really like about this is that it is highly pigmented and I just did a light swipe so it covers the sparse area on my brows which the other brow powder products couldn’t. Again, I am that oily.
The darker shade really suits me well because it blends in perfectly with my dark brows and a small amount really goes a long way. I haven’t used the highlighter that it came with because I really don’t highlight on that area but I would certainly try it out this time.
This product should be my favourite because it has cream/pomade but it really doesn’t suit my taste. They don’t blend in perfectly as I want them to. I always go for medium browns but this one is just too light for me and it doesn’t stay for too long on my brows. I think this will be fitting for those with dry skin. Although I really like the powders because they are pigmented too but not as much as the Detail’s.
Overall, I’m satisfied with these products and for such low prices, they are all worth the try. I would love to hear if you guys have tried them out. So, what’s your favourite drugstore makeup products?
